Hello brethren,
2013 is now wrapping up literally within the next 25hrs or so and thought a entry into this blog of mine would be appropriate. It's a been a year laden with plenty of emotion, success, reinvention and self-discovery.
Start this thing off by making a special mention to talk about what ever came of my story with the Norwegian Great White Buffalo (no, I'm not referring to her as a buffalo but rather - the one that got away. Hot Tub Time Machine reference ^_^) It all happened in a flash. I still remember when I met her, first spoke to her and had the first thought about things potentially ending (if it got that far) after her degree finished - she was an international student studying Journalism here in Sydney and I was very fortunate enough to have spent a very rewarding and fulfilling 3 years with her. To set it straight, no she isn't Canadian as many had led themselves to believe, she did however during the 3 years here go onto an exchange program for 1 semester in Toronto which worked out to be around 8 months. For those that remember it was also a time I conjured up the balls to fly solo to meet her, what was special about that you ask? we were broken up at the time and she didn't know I was flying there not only to holiday - but also to be there for her birthday as a surprise. Some nearly 30hrs of travel later I made it with 1hour to spare ..her reaction was beautiful :) A fairly stalkerish story if you will - but a pretty damn cute one at that. Fast tracking to the present day we attempted what was mean't to be a long/distance relationship but I soon discovered that it wouldn't work between us and alas, the inevitable split happened in around the start of 2013. Been single since, and have kept it that way with much success, for all the emotional ongoings trying to keep what we had certainly took a toll on me even if she couldn't see it. I was very pleasantly surprised however to receive a random email on my birthday many months down the track from her. Nothing is happening as of right now, as yolo and as persevering as I am I don't think anything will ever eventuate again unless she can channel the same energy back towards me from across the seas. Which I unfortunately doubt. I always thought about asking her to stay here, but just couldn't bring myself to. She's a young woman with an awesome future ahead of her with an ambition to match. I'd be pretty fucking selfish if I had any hand in denying her any opportunities that she'll encounter. Goodluck to you and perhaps my story and yours will cross once more.
I've said this many times to my homies during the latter stage of the year but I have been on a massive ride of creative discovery - I ended N2S in 2012 and I do believe that has been one of my greatest moves to date in an odd sort of way. Since ending the jam I've allowed to reacquaint myself with the creative arts and really develop those creative juices which were honestly running dry by the end of 2012. For those that don't know I used to take piano lessons for a good 10 years eventually using the piano as my medium for HSC (got my top marks in music for HSC!). After highschool however I was pretty beat from all the nagging and hours of practice everyday for all those years that I just totally carked it and caved in, I let that piano collect dust for what? the last 7 years? I used to beat around from time to time just to see if I had the technical skills still but never really enjoyed playing until this year. After awhile I just found myself jamming my old tunes, practicing my old scales and really just playing the piano and enjoying it the way I did when I first started taking lessons, what a light bulb of a moment it was to rediscover those initial feelings of excitement and want to learn. Been learning a tune or two and bringing the technique of it all up to scratch! More recently I've started sketching, been a massive fan of characters and toons like Dragonball Z and characters from the Final Fantasy franchise. I've always had a decent hand and keen eye for drawing so my latest project is to create a mural of my most memorable game and tv characters on this plasterboard wall that surrounds my room. The white is looking quite boring. On a different tangent those that read my blog can see I like to write... write a lot of metaphorical crap that could potentially turn into a decent poem, or even a song. That's where im at right now, bought a studio set up and now jamming to the mic when I'd otherwise be dance jamming. I owe it to the homies from the RT crew aka Round Circle for inspiring me once again to write and actually do something more than archive those heartfelt lyrics. Wouldn't call myself a rapper or MC but I do like to spin a story. On that note, these n*gguhs need to get up off their arses cause they are some talented mofos who don't really understand it! I say it cause I honestly believe shit needs to be seen by the public and everyone else so they to can appreciate along with me. My yolo buffer is in full swing at the moment, it doesn't necessarily need to inspire but hopefully it helps out a little.
On that note. The RT Crew (Road Trip Crew). I can be a fickle motherfucker and very harsh but meeting every single one of the guys from the RT crew has been a blessing for me this year, for the most part I've known them since they were starting out making their own events and what not through round circle (interesting trivia: I started dancing around the time when they started rapping ..yet it's still all Hiphop and we connect over it. One love!) They're a multi personality bunch and I love it. I find very few people can handle my personality - cause let's admit I'm one opinionated and stubborn son of a gun. I find the guys and their ladies though such a an easy going bunch to be around. I can let lose and be straight cut and still have a massive blast of laughter about it. I've always floated around different friends circle but this crew are one of the few I'll stick around with I believe. Ngaw shiet.
Women come, women go. Some tried to wife me this year and I gave a straight up 'no'. Moving right along
Work life has also taken an interesting turn. Mentally I've settled at work and very much into the daily regime of things - for me that's a bad thing and I discovered that this year by finding myself pretty darn bored. I enrolled into a Masters of Public Health course at USYD in attempt to better my GPA to get into Medicine, but alas due to my lack of research found doing the course would infact do very little for me. I basically would have to quit work, enter a 3 year undergrad degree and complete that before having any sort of chance of studying to become a doctor. So I rode out the first semester, waited for my marks and found I had failed 2 subjects by the slightest of margins, I subsequently dropped out of the course before financially committing in the second semester. As it happens however, I also managed to score myself a type of incharge role at work (even if the pay didn't reflect the fact) I've been in the position running the floor in the mornings within the operating theatre environment at RPAH and for the most part has been an EXCELLENT experience. I took the role on to better my skill base and to learn more intimately how the place ran - and that was largely a success. I'm nearing the end of my secondment and will resume normal activities.. I'll probably get bored again. Management is something that I am now considering since I enjoyed the role so much! hopefully I'd make a good one.
Being single, creative arts and meeting a rad group of peeps has probably been the biggest highlights for me this year. This entry though doesn't capture all the small meaningful stuff that's contributed to this year being such a successful one. A lot of self growth has happened and I am forever thankful for all of those that have been apart of that journey.
